Job Descriptions

Many ask “what are my options to fulfill my 3-hour requirement?”

Please keep in mind that flexibility is always appreciated. You may be asked to work in another area than you initially signed up for. Please help out where needed.

We have no place to store your purse, so please lock it in your car. Limit cell phone use to emergencies only. We need your full attention when you are working. Remember: there is no baby sitting available.

  • Accepting Merchandise: Items will be visually inspected in order to meet our criteria. Any unacceptable items will be donated immediately. Items will be organized into the appropriate areas on the sales floor.
  • Prepare Sales Floor: All racks are checked for correct placement of sizes. All areas are organized. Cash register stations are prepared. Final signs are hung. Last minute jobs completed.
  • Consignor’s Sale: You will be doing one of the next three jobs listed below. You will work from 5:30-8:00. You can shop from 8-8:30.
  • Cash Registers: You will be scanning all tags into the computer. You will then count the tags to confirm they match the total on the screen. Collect payment from the customer. You must arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled shift to review the process.
  • Tags & Bags for Cashier: Check tag against item to be sure the item has the correct tag. Remove the tag from the item and hand to the cashier. Count all items and confirm they match with the cashier. Place all items in a bag and tie shut. Staple the receipt to the bag.
  • Floor Monitor: Circulate and keep floor areas clean. Pick up fallen clothes or misplaced items and return to correct rack. For the Teen Area, stay on the stage and be sure no one goes behind taped-off areas. For the Toy Area, keep like items together; keep walkways clear; kindly ask children not to play with toys. You may be assigned front or back door. It is imperative that you not leave your post.
  • Tear Down & Consignor Pick-Up: This is a high-energy shift. We need to efficiently remove all items from sales floor and sort them under each consignor number along the walls. Items are then double-checked.
  • Sorting, Donating & Clean-Up: Same as above and includes moving racks, taking down signage and from 3-4pm you are a runner for consignor pick-up. You will load the donation truck and help committee members with loading.
